LG Officially Unveiled Specs and Pictures of its Chocolate BL40 Phone

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

LG has unveiled details about its new LG BL40 Chocolate, an extremely thin and attractive touchscreen device.

This newest addition to LG’s “Black Label” Chocolate family features a 4.0-inch touchscreen display with 800 x 345 pixel resolution for cinematic quality images. The display is covered by stylish, curved tempered glass. The wide 21:9 aspect ratio lets users more easily browse the web, and a dual-content interface lets users display different pieces of content simultaneously. In pictures the hardware looks extremely minimalistic, without so much as a visible button aside from the touchscreen display and what appears to be a volume rocker and dedicated camera key. The pictures also detail a 5.0 megapixel camera, although that detail was not confirmed by LG’s press release.

The LG Chocolate BL40 will be available in the third quarter of 2009 in 54 countries, according to LG. Earlier this month we reported that LG planned to announce the new device in August.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 Launching August 5th on T-Mobile?

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Wal Mart was planning on launching the T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8520 on August 5th. The report stated that the big discount retailer was getting a two month window of exclusivity. The reason for Wal Mart’s apparent good fortune came from the myTouch 3G which T-Mobile was expected to release on the same day. It might have been too much for the carrier to bring two new smartphones to market on the same day, thus Wal Mart was to get the 60 day window to sell the Curve 8520.

But it looks like minds were changed and the idea of an Android launch together with a BlackBerry launch on the same day at the same location is not too much to handle. You see, the guys and gals at BlackBerry Rocks got their hands on some leaked promotional material that shows an August 5th T-Mobile launch for the BlackBerry Curve 8520, which will replace the Curve 8320 in the lineup. The first ‘Berry with an optical trackball will still be available at Wal Mart starting August 5th, although it will not be on an exclusive basis. And one important note for those who were looking to upgrade their current T-Mobile handset and get the Curve 8520 on launch day-upgrades into the new Curve will not be available until after 10am Pacific Time on the 5th of August. Pricing is still an unknown.

Motorola Android Phone Confirmed for Verizon for Q4 2009?

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Until now, we’ve heard about a Motorola Android phone for T-Mobile (Motorola Morrison), as well as about one for AT&T (Motorola Heron).

But what about Verizon? Well, it looks like the largest North American carrier will also release an Android phone made by Moto, sometime in the fourth quarter of 2009. This may or may not be the Moto Galgary (pictured below) - we’ll have to wait and see.

According to The Street, the future Android handset will have a full QWERTY keyboard, like the Calgary. If Moto and Verizon will also include GPS, Wi-Fi and a good photo camera, this rumored Android phone might be successful.

Well, what do you think, could Moto’s Verizon-bound Android phone be a smash-hit? Or will it be just another Motorola phone?
